An Author Event

September 16, 2013

Storm's coming.

Storm’s coming.

I’ve been AWOL this summer. Change happens in life and we’ve lost a lot of our nursing help in caring for our disabled son. So I’m working many more hours. Too many hours.

Finally, something had to give and it’s been my weekly posts. Why? Because being there for our son is very important to me. But so is finishing my next book. It’s another Dessert Dames novel and the working title is Lemons Squared.

So now you know whymy weekly posts have ceased for a while–at least until life changes again and I have more time. But I haven’t forgotten you. I continue to take photos whenever I can and hope to be using them again. I do use them on my Facebook pages every now and then.

Lots to choose from

Lots to choose from

But for those of you in the Racine/Kenosha, Wisconsin area, I’ll be participating in a Local Authors’ Showcase on Wednesday. I’m very excited that my schedule cleared enough that I could do so. I’ll be very glad to discuss my books with them. And sign my latest PR cards. If you’re in the area, I hope you stop by, Wednesday, September 18th, 4-7 PM at Andrea’s, 60th St and 24th Avenue, Kenosha.

Here’s my new PR card. And keep reading. 🙂

A Special Favor

February 5, 2013

My Oreo

My Oreo

Hello on a Tuesday!

I don’t usually post during the week, but I have a very special favor to ask of you. This favor might take you a few minutes. But it should be fun and interesting.

So, here’s the deal.

Two of my book covers have been entered in a contest. That’s right. Not the book. Just the cover. So actually, this is about the creative vision and work of cover artists.

If a book cover finals, it get some publicity. If the book cover wins, it gets more.

So the Super Bowl is over. March Madness hasn’t begun. So this is a good time to judge book covers.

This contest has a name, Judge A Book By Its Cover. Or JABBIC for short. 🙂

It has book covers in several different categories. You can judge 1, 2, or all. The choice is yours but whatever category you choose, you must look at all the choices. Then you rank them 1-5. Of course, 5 is the highest.

The process is to go to this link.

Click on a category. Mine are in the Single Title category.

Next you rank each cover it the category including mine. Do it like you might if you were looking for new books to read in a library, bookstore shelves or online. Most books get picked up and looked at by the cover. It’s their curb appeal. You do the same here. If the book cover appeals to you, you just hit 1through 5 based on their descriptions. A one means you basically didn’t like it at all and a five means you’d buy it.

To make this ranking process even easier, the people who set up this contest assume the entries are a 3 and that’s already marked. If you don’t agree with that, click on the circle you think the cover deserves, then hit the continue button until you’ve finished reviewing all the covers in that category.

Of course, I hope you’ll give my books a 5 but I ranked as 5 several covers in competition with mine. Why? Because I loved their covers as much as I love mine. I also respect the creative vision and talent of the cover artist.

The two books I’ve entered in the Single Title category are Better Than Dessert and More Than A Trifle.

This ranking needs to be completed by next Sunday, February 10.

I’d also appreciate it very much if you’d forward the contest link to others you might think would enjoy doing this.

I and all the entrants really appreciate your support and help. Thank you. 🙂

Attention: Here’s The Latest Update

March 8, 2012

I Need your vote.

My recent Wild Rose Press book, An Island No More received a fantastic 5 star review last week. It was also selected by the review site The Romance Studio as a candidate for their 5 Heart Sweetheart Vote. The voting began last night and will end on Sunday, March 11.

If Island No More wins the vote, it will be featured on their review website for the following week. That means the cover, a buy link, and the review will be placed on their main page for the following week. The review site will also promote on all their social media outlets.

I don’t have to tell you that this should definitely help me in my promotion and name recognition. Plus this book is fantastic. (Of course, I’m a bit prejudiced.)

I hope you will find the time to help me and my book.

Here’s the link to vote:

Print and digital versions available

If you click on Casey Clifford and the book where it’s listed the review will come up if you want to view it. The form is simple to use. When you finish, hit the submit button at the bottom of the form.

Feel free to forward this message to anyone you think might take a minute to vote for me.

Thanks. I’ll be doing my regular post again on Sunday. See you then.
